Six People Taken To Hospital After Accident Near Oyens

Oyens, Iowa — Six people, two from Orange City; two teens, one from Akron and one from North Sioux City; and two children were all taken to a hospital after an accident near Oyens on Friday evening.Ambulance Front Generic

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office reports that their investigation shows that just before 6 PM, 17-year-old Jasmine King of North Sioux City, SD was eastbound on C-16 approaching the intersection of K-64. According to witnesses, King failed to stop at the intersection. Her vehicle proceeded into the path of a southbound 2011 Hyundi driven by 27-year-old Mark Scallon of Orange City. Scallon’s vehicle struck King’s vehicle in the driver’s door.

Dispatched to the scene were Oyens Fire and Ambulance, Remsen Fire and Ambulance, and Le Mars Ambulance.

King and three passengers in her vehicle, 17-year-old Shelby LaFleur of Akron, as well as two minor children, ages 5 and 7, from Sioux City and Scallon and his passenger, 26-year-old Jenon Scallon of Orange City were all transported to Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. None of the injuries are believed to be life threatening, according to the sheriff’s Office.

The Iowa State Patrol and the Remsen Police Department also assisted.
