The prolonged period of rain, which ended as snow in parts of the region, will gradually wind down from south to north through this evening. Additional snowfall accumulations up to 2 or 3 inches are possible in higher elevations west of the James River by this evening, though most areas will see around an inch or less.
Cool weather will persist through the upcoming weekend, with highs in the 40s to lower 50s, and lows near or below freezing most nights. Drier conditions will prevail for most areas after today, except for a chance of rain through the Missouri River Valley on Friday.
