South Dakota Man Behind Bars, Charged With Sheldon Burglary

An investigation into a residential burglary in Sheldon has led to the arrest of a South Dakota man.

Officers charged 21-year-old Derek Michael Pinkerd from Harrison, South Dakota, with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree, Theft in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Trespassing.  Pinkerd was arrested at the Sheldon Police Department on January 26 and was transported to the O’Brien County Jail.

Stolen in the burglary at a residence on Oak Street on January 14 were a silver necklace with a 3-diamond pendant, valued at $200; an antique clock pendant, valued at $150, and $200 cash in $20 bills, for a combined total of $550 in value.

Forcible entry had been made through a door.   Assisting the Sheldon Police Department were officers from the Rock Valley Police Department.
