Spencer Man To Serve 12-Year Prison Sentence In Lyon County Case

Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Spencer man faces twelve years in prison for having sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl in Lyon County.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, their deputies arrested 28-year old Lawrence Jacob Bauer at his Spencer home on October 31st of last year on outstanding Lyon County warrants.

He was charged with nine counts of Third Degree Sexual Abuse, a Class C Felony; one count of Enticing a Minor, a Class C Felony; and three counts of Indecent Contact With a Child, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

Judge Nancy Whittenburg sentenced Bauer to twelve years in prison — two years for one count of Indecent Contact with a Child and ten for one count of Third Degree Sexual Abuse, to be served consecutively. Two counts of Indecent Contact with a Child, eight counts of Third Degree Sexual Abuse, and the one count of Enticing a Minor were all dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

He also must pay fines totaling $1625, a civil penalty of $250, register as a sex offender, and submit a DNA sample for profiling. Plus, after being released from prison, Bauer will be subject to a special sentence for sex offenders as if he was on parole for the rest of his life. If he violates the terms of the special sentence, he could be sent back to prison.
