Sibley, Iowa — A Spirit Lake man decided not to go to the hospital after an accident near Sibley early on Wednesday.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 12:30 AM, early on Wednesday, 29-year-old Jeremiah Wayne Davis of Spirit Lake was driving a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee, southbound on Northwest Boulevard, approaching the on-ramp to exit 48 of Highway 60 northbound. That’s the Second Avenue exit in Sibley.

Davis reached in the back seat of the vehicle to retrieve a sweatshirt. He didn’t see the curve ahead, and his SUV left the roadway and rolled several times before coming to rest on the driver’s side.

Davis’ vehicle sustained approximately $8,000 damage, and he was ticketed for Failure to Maintain Control and no proof of insurance.

Davis refused medical attention at the scene.
