State Patrol Trooper Says If Blizzard Develops, Stay Home

Trooper Kurtz 495Sheldon, Iowa — An Iowa State Patrol Trooper and Safety Officer is telling people that if a blizzard develops, stay home.

Trooper Vince Kurtz says that the Iowa State Patrol is always prepared for storms.

He says that one of the main problems with a blizzard is not being able to see your hand in front of your face, let alone the road in front of you.

He tells us that getting around will probably be difficult for other reasons as well.

Kurtz gives us some advice for staying informed.

He says you can also call 511 from a phone, but he says don’t do it while you’re driving. If you’re on an out-of-state cell phone tower, you can also call 1-800-288-1047 for Iowa road conditions.
