“Steer It Clear” Became Law In Iowa July 1st

Northwest Iowa — A new traffic law that went into effect July 1st marks a major change in how motorists conduct themselves in the aftermath of minor accidents.

Iowa State Patrol Trooper Vince Kurtz talks about the reasons for the new “Steer It Clear” law.

Kurtz says now, in many cases, you should move your vehicle off the traveled portion of the roadway.

He says the risk of a secondary crash greatly increases with each minute a lane is blocked.

Trooper Kurtz made his comments in response to a question during his appearance on Thursday’s KIWA Morning Show with Wayne & Aaron.
