Stolen Property Found, Suspect Arrested After Search Near Alton

Alton, Iowa — A search warrant carried out in rural alton has netted stolen property and a suspect in a burglary case.

On Tuesday evening, March 11, deputies from the Sioux and Plymouth County Sheriff’s Offices served a search warrant Sioux Sheriff Car 84-at a home, four miles southeast of Alton in Sioux County. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says that 50-year-old Thomas Mook of rural Alton was subsequently arrested for possession of stolen property and a controlled substance.

The search warrant was conducted following information gathered from the investigation of recent burglaries in the Alton and Remsen areas. The search netted over 30 power tools along with other miscellaneous tools. Officers also seized a controlled substance. When Mook was booked into the Sioux County jail, officers discovered that he had concealed drug paraphernalia on his person. He was additionally charged with introducing contraband into a jail facility. This was a joint investigation between the Sioux and Plymouth County Sheriff’s Offices.
