The Community Agency May Be Adding A Fifth City — Emmetsburg
Date posted - February 20, 2013
Sanborn, Iowa — The Community Agency — the partnership among Primghar, Paullina, Hartley, and Sanborn to provide cable TV, telephone, broadband Internet and more — may be adding another town to the mix.
We talked to TCA manager D.J. Weber about the situation, and he gave us some background of the system.
He says at first, it was only cable TV, but as the technology evolved to be able to offer broadband Internet and telephone service, they added those about 2000. They operate via a 28E agreement among the four towns.
He says he has been busy lately attending city council meetings in the four towns to see if they would allow the 28E agreement to be modified to add a fifth town.
Weber says it’s certainly not a done deal yet. He says the communities have approved a possible modification to the 28E agreement, but they would still have to approve the change — and Emmetsburg is not ready on their end either. He says they are just in the preliminary stages of seeing if it’s going to work.
Weber gives us an idea of how the the timeline may be laid out.
Weber says he’ll keep us up to date with how the negotiations are progressing.
