The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 9:05 AM, 45-year-old Kristi Donaker of George was driving a red Ford Econoline Van, owned by the George-Little Rock Community School District, eastbound on Highway 18, just north of Everly. Kevin Lewis of Lebanon, Missouri was driving a 1999 Peterbilt semi with a trailer eastbound behind Donaker.
At that point, a deer entered the roadway. Donaker stopped to avoid hitting the deer, but when she did, the semi struck the rear bumper area of Donaker’s vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest on the roadway.
Three passengers in Donaker’s vehicle were transported to Spencer Hospital. Their injuries were described as “minor”.
The George-Little Rock van sustained $5000 in damages. The truck Lewis was driving was owned by Scooter’s Auto Transport LLC. It also sustained $5000 in damage.
The Everly Fire and Rescue Departments, the Spencer Fire and Rescue Departments, and Spencer Hospital Paramedics assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
