Three Semi Accidents Cause Large Amounts Of Damage In Sioux County Monday And Tuesday

Sioux County, Iowa — No one was injured, but three separate semi accidents in Sioux County on Monday and Tuesday (4/22 & 4/23) caused large amounts of damage.
Six cattle died and the truck sustained nearly $100,000 in damage in an accident on Monday.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5:50 PM, 63-year-old Ronald Van Zee of Sioux Center was driving a 2014 Peterbuilt semi-tractor pulling a loaded livestock trailer eastbound on 280th street, two miles west of Sioux Center, when he lost control of the vehicle, which entered the south ditch and rolled.
No injuries were reported.
The Peterbuilt sustained about $55,000 in damages. The trailer sustained an estimated $40,000 in damages. Six of the 45 cattle on the trailer died in the accident.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
A semi driven by a Fargo man received major damage in an accident on Tuesday.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 8:10 AM, 52-year-old Sidney Herberholz of Fargo, ND was driving a 2003 Peterbuilt semi-tractor pulling a Wilson grain trailer loaded with wheat pellet animal feed eastbound on 280th Street, seven miles northwest of Rock Valley.
As Herberholz turned south onto Coolidge Avenue, the trailer left the roadway, detached from the semi-tractor and overturned. No injuries were reported.
The trailer sustained about $100,000 in damages, but the semi-tractor was not damaged.
A semi driven by an Orange City man was damaged in an accident near Rock Valley on Monday.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s office reports about 1:50 PM, 66-year-old Robert Rohrs of Orange City was driving a 1997 Peterbuilt semi-tractor pulling a 2009 Polar tanker trailer eastbound on 360th Street, five miles southeast of Rock Valley.
He lost control of the vehicle, which entered the south ditch and struck a tree.
No injuries were reported.
The Peterbuilt sustained about $7,500 in damages;the trailer was not damaged.
Rohrs was cited for failure to maintain control.
