Three Sentenced In Two Lyon County Incidents; One For Domestic Abuse; Two For Cheating At Cards
Date posted - February 2, 2012
Three people have been sentenced in two separate Lyon County incidents — one for domestic abuse and two for cheating at cards at the casino.
An Inwood man will serve jail time and probation, among other stipulations after he was convicted of domestic abuse.
Lyon County Attorney Carl Petersen reports that 33-year-old Ricky Ray Allarid of Inwood was convicted of Domestic Abuse Assault, a Serious Misdemeanor.
This conviction stems from a complaint filed in December 2011 that states Allarid strangled his live-in girlfriend with his hands for about a minute during an argument and that Allarid punched his live-in girlfriend on her left arm causing a bruise which could be seen by the officer.
Allarid has been sentenced to the Lyon County Jail for one year with all but 90 days suspended. Allarid will serve two years probation and complete an approved Batterer’s Treatment Program. He was also ordered to pay victim restitution, a fine, surcharge, court costs, court-appointed attorney fees, and Sheriff’s room and board fees for jail time actually served.
Also, the No Contact Order in this matter has been extended for five years from the date of the Judgment and Sentence.
Two men, whose addresses are not listed in the report were convicted of cheating at cards in Lyon County and face a suspended prison sentence and probation among other stipulations.
Lyon County Attorney Carl Petersen reports that Hatem Hashim Al-Mayahi and Ali Kassim Alinizi were both convicted of Fraudulent Practices.
These convictions stem from a complaint filed in December 2011 that states that these two individuals were involved with switching cards during a hand of Crazy Poker at Grand Falls Casino.
The men have been sentenced to a two-year suspended sentence, and are placed on a 2 year probation to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. The men are not allowed to enter any casinos run by the Iowa Gaming Commission for a period of two years. They have been ordered to pay a fine, surcharge, court costs, court-appointed attorney fees, and Sheriff’s room and board fees for jail time actually served.
