Three Transported To Sanford Sheldon, Six Vehicles Damaged In Three Sheldon Accidents

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 1:20 PM, 18-year-old Maddy Winkelmann of Springfield, MN was westbound on North First Street, near Fantasia in a 2000 Chevy. Thirty-eight-year-old Bradley Swalley of Sheldon was southbound on North Eighteenth Avenue in a 1999 Chrysler.
North First Street is effectively a frontage road in this area, near Highway 18. Winkelmann turned off of Highway 18 onto north Eighteenth Avenue and was attempting to turn left onto North First, when he was struck by the Swalley vehicle, which was southbound on North Eighteenth Avenue, approaching the Highway 18 stop light.
Winkelmann and a passenger in her vehicle, Hali Winkelmann were transported to Sanford Sheldon by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team Swalley was not injured.
Winkelmann’s Chevy received $4000 damage, which totaled the car. Swalley’s Chrysler received $3000 damage.
Winkelmann was charged with failure to yield on left turn.
A Hartley man was taken to the hospital after an accident on Friday (5/10) in Sheldon.
The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 4:30 PM, 55-year-old Jerome Johnson of George was northbound on Thirty-Fourth Avenue, between McDonald’s and Taco John’s in a 2000 Pontiac Montana. Twenty-four-year-old Erick Jordan of Hartley was eastbound on Highway 18 on a 2012 Yamaha Motorcycle.
Johnson was stopped for the stop sign at Sheldon Crossing waiting to turn left onto Highway 18. There was a westbound vehicle who slowed quickly as Johnson was starting to enter the intersection. Johnson got stopped partly in the intersection as the westbound vehicle turned. Johnson then started ahead and noticed an eastbound motorcycle approaching the intersection. Johnson stopped and Jordan — the motorcycle driver — tried to miss the Johnson minivan, but struck it. The report says the driver rolled one time.
Jordan was transported to Sanford Sheldon by Sheldon Community Ambulance Team.
Johnson’s Pontiac Montana received $1000 damage. Jordan’s Yamaha Motorcycle received $1000 damage.
Johnson was charged with failure to yield from a stop sign.
A Sheldon woman’s SUV and a Sheldon man’s pickup were damaged in an accident on Friday, May 3 in Sheldon.
The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 3:30 PM, a 2000 Chevy, owned by Della Ashlock of Sheldon was parked in the alley near Jensen Liquor, at the drive-up window. Eighty-two-year-old Creston Hoekstra of Sheldon was northbound in the parking area in a 1992 GMC pickup.
Hoekstra backed up from a parking spot and did not see the Ashlock vehicle since it was parked around the building’s corner.
Ashlock’s Chevy received $1500 damage. Hoekstra’s GMC received $1000 damage.
There were no injuries reported.
Hoekstra was charged with unsafe backing.
