Topics: Drones, Weeds, Pests, and The Market At Field Day

Sutherland, Iowa – How to better use drones, weed and pest management, and a market outlook. Those are just some of the topics coming up at an annual field day this Wednesday in northwest Iowa.

Farmers and the public are invited to attend Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach’s Annual Northwest Research and Demonstration Farm Field Day on Wednesday, July 12 at the Northwest Iowa Research and Demonstration Farm near Sutherland.

ISU Extension and Outreach crop field specialist Joel DeJong says he and other specialists will present timely research and crop production information throughout the morning.

· The 2017-18 Crop Market Outlook: The Search for Higher Prices presented by Chad Hart, ISU Extension Economist

· Soybean Aphids and Insecticide Resistance presented by Erin Hodgson, ISU Extension Entomologist

· Where are we with Aerial Imaging and UAVs? presented by Ryan Bergman, ISU Department of Ag and Biosystems Engineering, Precision Ag Specialist

· Agronomic and Weed Management Issues from the 2017 Growing Season presented by Joel DeJong and Paul Kassel, ISU Extension and Outreach Field Agronomists

DeJong says that the field day will give farmers and the public a chance to see current research projects and talk with the researchers involved in the experiments. He says you’ll also be able to ask questions and hear about the latest in the agriculture industry. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend, and Certified Crop Credits will be available.
