Trial Postponed For Spirit Lake Man Charged With Attempted Murder

Spirit Lake, Iowa — The trial in the case of a Spirit Lake man facing a charge of attempted murder — has been postponed.

Authorities say 30-year-old Nicholas Thompson is accused of attacking a man with a knife with an 8-inch blade while yelling death threats in June 2017. They say the victim received serious injuries as a result.

He is charged with attempted murder, willful injury causing serious injury, going armed with intent, and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.

Thompson’s trial, which had originally been scheduled for November 2017 was continued to September 11, 2018. It has now been pushed back again, to September 25th by Judge Carl Peterson, on request of the defense.
