Tulip Court Being Selected Today In Orange City

Orange City, Iowa — The 2018 Orange City Tulip Court is being selected today.

We talked with Deb Locker, who is part of the Queen Committee for the Tulip Festival. She spoke to us from Stadcentrum, where the voting is taking place. She says eligible voters are people with an Orange City address and students at MOC/Floyd Valley in the seventh through the twelveth grades.

She tells us who is eligible to be on the court ballot.

She says they have to be a senior in high school. Obviously, Locker says if they live in a community other than Orange City, even if they are a senior at one of the high schools in town, they would not be eligible. She says the girls also have to consent to being on the ballot. She says nine high school senior girls’ names are on the ballot, and five of them will serve on the Tulip Court. The names of the girls selected for the Tulip Court will be released on Thursday morning, September 21st.

The 2018 Orange City Tulip Queen will be selected in a pageant on Monday, November 19th.
