Preparations continue for the annual celebration of all things Dutch, according to Julianna Pennings, one of the organizers of the annual event.

She says that one of the several things that visitors should take in during the festival is the Straat Feest, or Street Festival.

Many of the events take place each day — Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Tulip Festival. However some events only happen once. There is a free concert every night in Windmill Park, starting on Wednesday night.

The Tulip Festival Car Show has been moved to Wednesday night, plus the carnival midway will be open for “Ride Night” on Wednesday night. Purchase a wristband for $15 and ride unlimited rides on Wednesday, May 18, from 6:00 to 10:30 PM. The wristbands are only valid for Wednesday evening.

Pennings says people should make sure to take in the Tulip Festival Night Show as well, which is usually a Broadway musical performed by northwest Iowa amateur actors. This year, they are doing West Side Story.
