Two 14-year-olds Taken To Hospital After UTV Accident

Rock Valley, Iowa — Two 14-year-olds, one from George and one from Rock Valley were taken to the hospital after a UTV accident near Rock Valley.

On Saturday, (10/20) at 4:30 PM, 13-year-old Kassie Johnson of Rock Valley was driving a 2011 Roketa side-by-side UTV westbound on 300th Street near Fig Avenue, a mile northeast of Rock Valley. A side-by-side UTV looks like an off-road golf cart.

Johnson attempted to make a left turn onto Fig Avenue where she lost control and rolled the UTV onto its
passenger side.

Johnson received minor injuries but did not seek medical attention. Two passengers, 14-year-old Taylar Van Otterloo of George, and 14-year-old Madison Zeutenhorst of Rock Valley were transported to Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley by the Rock Valley Ambulance.

The Roketa sustained approximately $500 in damages.

Johnson was cited for illegal operation of an all terrain vehicle on the roadway.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Rock Valley Police Department and Rock Valley Ambulance.
