Two Motorcycle Accidents In Lyon County Send One To Hospital, Damage One Motorcycle

Lyon County Sheriff Car DoorRock Rapids, Iowa — A Rock Rapids teen was taken to the hospital after an accident on Friday night (4/26).

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 6:05 PM, 17-year-old Alex Harr of Rock Rapids was riding his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle northbound on South Union Street when 88-year-old Velda Loger of Rock Rapids made a left turn striking the Harr motorcycle.

Harr was transported to Sanford Rock Rapids Hospital for medical evaluation.

Loger’s 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix received about $100 in damage. There was no damage to the motorcycle.


A motorcycle was damaged in an accident on Saturday night near Alvord.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 6:30 PM, 68-year-old Kenneth Heyer of Sioux Falls, SD was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson Ultra Glide motorcycle when he entered an area where the ditch and field were being burnt. While traveling through the smoke, he lost control of the motorcycle and it tipped over.

Heyer received minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

The damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $1,500.
