AmbulanceKingsley, Iowa — Two Ocheyedan men were taken to the hospital after an accident on Tuesday (3/12) near Kingsley.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 12:00 PM, 68-year-old John Jongma of Hawarden was westbound on C60 near Kingsley in a 2006 Mack semi, pulling a 2010 Cornhusker grain trailer. Forty-five-year-old Mark Bremer of Ocheyedan was northbound on Highway 140 in a 1999 Ford pickup.

The report says Jongma failed to stop for the stop sign. Bremer was unable to stop when he saw the semi. His pickup struck the left rear duals of the trailer causing functional damage to the trailer and totaling the pickup.

Bremer, and a passenger in his vehicle, 83-year-old Donald Bremer of Ocheyedan were both taken to Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars by Kingsley Ambulance.

Jongma’s Mack semi received $5000 damage. Bremer’s Ford pickup received $10,000 damage.

Jongma stated that he did not realize there had been an accident until he reached his destination. He then contacted the Sheriff’s Office to provide his information.

Jongma was ticketed on charges of failure to obey a stop sign and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
