Two Sheldon Teens Taken To Hospital After Monday Accident

SCAT back 2012Sheldon, Iowa — Two Sheldon teens were taken to the hospital after an accident on Monday (4/22) in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police reports that about 8:00 AM, 17-year-old Riki Langfitt of Sheldon was eastbound on Highway 18,near the east Casey’s in a 1994 Chevy. Seventy-three-year-old Robert Poppema of Sheldon was westbound on 18 in the outside lane in a 2009 Ford.

Langfitt had stopped in the eastbound inside lane waiting to turn left, or north on Washington. She did not see Poppema approaching from the east, and turned in front of him. The Poppema pickup struck the Langfitt car in the front passenger side.

Langfitt and a passenger in her vehicle, 16-year-old Traci Langfitt of Sheldon, were transported to Sanford Sheldon by SCAT.

Langfitt’s Chevy received $3500 damage. Poppema’s Ford received $1500 damage.

Langfitt was charged with Failure To Yield Upon Left Turn.

In other police news, the Sheldon Police took a report on Monday, April 15th that someone from Sheldon had their identity stolen online in March. According to the victim, someone used her debit card for a transaction to for the purchase of a blender, valued at $106.86.
