Two Weeks Left For Sheldon’s Summer Lunch Program

Sheldon, Iowa — The start of the 2018-19 school year for Sheldon students is less than three weeks away, and as the school year begins, the Sheldon Summer Lunch program comes to an end.

Summer Lunch Program Coordinator Tricia Meendering says the Summer Lunch Program was well attended this year.

We asked Meendering how this year’s attendance compares to last year.

With such a wide variance in the number of kids attending the Summer Lunch Program meals from day to day, we asked her how they know how much food to prepare each day.

She says they have a very special meal planned for Wednesday, August 15th.

Meendering says that, even though the program is approaching it’s end for this year, volunteers are always needed.

She says because there is a funeral scheduled this coming Monday at the Sheldon United Methodist Church, where the Summer Lunch Program meals are prepared and served, volunteers will have a sack-type lunch available for the kids to take with them.
