Two Women Taken To Hospital After Sioux Center Accident

Sioux Center AmbulanceSioux Center, Iowa — Two women, one from Rock Valley and one from Sioux Center were taken to the hospital after an accident near Sioux Center on Friday.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 6:15 that night, 58-year-old Melissa O’Rourke of Rock Valley was driving a 2000 Chrysler Town & Country minivan northbound on Elmwood Avenue, about six miles northwest of Sioux Center. O’Rourke began making a left turn onto 380th Street. Twenty-nine-year-old Joshua Tacke of Sioux Center was driving a 2008 Kia Optima northbound on Elmwood Avenue behind O’Rourke. Tacke started passing O’Rourke, and struck her vehicle in mid-turn.

O’Rourke and a passenger in Tacke’s vehicle, 31-year-old Melissa Tacke of Sioux Center were both transported to the Sioux Center Hospital by Sioux Center Ambulance.

The O’Rourke minivan sustained about $5,000 in damages. The Kia driven by Tacke sustained about $10,000 in

Joshua Tacke was cited for unsafe passing.

The Iowa State Patrol, Sioux Center Police Department and the Sioux Center Ambulance assisted the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
