Sheldon, Iowa — Prior to the start of Friday’s Class 2A State Championship basketball game, a Sheldon basketball player received an award and scholarship from the Iowa Bankers Association.
The Student Achievement Award and Scholarship, the presentation of which was made at mid-court at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, was presented to Sheldon senior Steven Van Meeteren, a member of the 4th place Sheldon Orab Basketball Team.
Van Meeteren told an interviewer at the tournament that he plans to attend the University of South Dakota in Vermillion this fall.
