View The First Wildflowers Of Spring This Sunday

pasqueSutherland, Iowa — Pasque Flower. It’s called the first flower of spring.

If you’d like to get out and enjoy the prairie as it may have looked 150 years ago, you are invited to welcome the coming of spring with a search for the first wildflower on the prairie.

O’Brien County Naturalist Charlene Elyea says the hike, which has come to be a favorite of many people will be at Waterman Praire this Sunday, April 9th.

She says that whether this is a new event for you or whether you have enjoyed it in the past, the search for the pasque flower is an annual rite of the passage of spring.

Again, the Pasque Flower Hike will be on Sunday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. To get to Waterman Prairie on Wilson Avenue — from Hwy 10, turn south on Wilson Avenue and follow the road around the curve, over the bridge and straight up the hill. The parking lot will be on the east side of the road.
