Vilsack Officially In Race For New Fourth District
Date posted - March 15, 2012
It’s official. Republican Representative Steve King who represents northwest Iowa in Congress will have a Democratic opponent in November.
Christie Vilsack has filed nominating petitions with the Iowa Secretary of State, officially placing her on the ballot in Iowa’s new 4th Congressional District.
She says she’s running for Congress because the district deserves someone who will go to work for them. She says she wants to take the values she learned growing up in small town Iowa and put them to work in Washington, a place where too many have chosen gridlock and partisan ideology over the respect and cooperation that actually produces results.
Vilsack submitted petitions that included signatures in all 39 counties in the fourth congressional district.
Northwest Iowa Republicans say that although the district leans Republican, they fear that Vilsack will get major support from out-of-state interests.
