Washington State Man Taken To Hospital After Accident On State Line

Ambulance rear blue and whiteRock Rapids, Iowa — A Spokane, Washington man was taken to the hospital after an accident on Friday (3/1) at the state line near Rock Rapids.

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that early Friday morning, 34-year-old Jose Chalchi-Vela was southbound on Highway 75, at the Minnesota-Iowa state line in a 2001 Pontiac, when he lost control and the vehicle hit a sign. The accident came to the attention of law enforcement about 7 AM.

Chalchi-Vela was taken to Sanford Luverne Hospital by Rock County Ambulance.

Chalchi-Vela’s Pontiac received an unknown amount of damage.

The Lyon County, Iowa and Rock County, Minnesota Sheriff’s Offices assisted at the scene.
