West Lyon Takes First In Class At Marshall Band Competition

Marshall, Minnesota — While several area high school marching bands competed in Waseca, Minnesota last weekend, some went to the Pursuit of Excellence band competition in Marshall, Minnesota, and performed well there.

One of the bands from our area — The West Lyon High School Marching Band — took first place in their class, the “Crimson Class.” They also took outstanding battery percussion, outstanding musical performance, outstanding concert percussion, outstanding visual performance, and outstanding color guard honors in the class. Coming in fourth in the Crimson Class was the Sibley-Ocheyedan High School Marching Band.

Several other schools near our area did well too, including Lennox, Madison, Harrisburg, Heelan, West Central, Brandon Valley, and Sioux Falls Roosevelt, O’Gorman, and Lincoln high schools.
