Woman Injured When Entangled In PTO Shaft

Archer, Iowa — A 20-year old woman was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when she became entangled in a PTO shaft at Archer Coop Grain.

According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, 20-year old Francesca Feekes, who is an intern at Archer Coop Grain was injured when she became entangled in a PTO shaft on a tender truck at the co-op.  Authorities say she was transported by Archer Ambulance to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center with serious injuries.

O’Brien County authorities say they received the call at the Sheriff’s Office at about 4:20 Wednesday afternoon.  They say the original information was that someone was caught in an auger.  The Sheriff’s Office says Archer Fire and Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.  The Sheldon Fire Department was also dispatched to assist with extracation, but according to Sheldon Assistant Fire Chief Randy Harms, the Sheldon crews were called off en route, due to the victim having already been extricated, and was being treated by Archer Fire and Ambulance.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office and O’Brien County EMA responded to the call.  The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation into the incident is continuing.
