Doon, Iowa — A Rock Rapids woman and a George woman were injured in an accident on Friday (12/7) near Doon.
The Lyon County Sheriff’ Office reports that about 8:20 PM, 30-year-old Amy Fluit of Rock Rapids was northbound on K30, three miles west and a half mile south of Doon in a 2005 Ford Excursion.
Deputy Lincecum’s report says Fluit had just passed the intersection with county road A52 when she lost control of her SUV, due to icy conditions on the roadway. The SUV traveled west into the ditch and rolled.
Fluit and a passenger in her vehicle, 27-year-old Ashley Huisman of George were both transported to Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley by Rock Valley Ambulance.
Five children were also in the vehicle, but were not injured.
Fluit’s Ford received $30,000 damage.
