Worthington Police Calling Incident At Nursing Home A Murder-Suicide

Worthington, Minnesota — The community of Worthington is reeling after news of what police are calling a murder-suicide at a local nursing home.Law Enforcement Lightbar red

Worthington Police report that they were called to Crossroads Care Center on McMillan Street in Worthington just before 10 PM on Friday evening.

They say the report was of gunshots fired in a private room at the facility. They found 87-year-old George Doust of Worthington sitting on a bed with what officers are calling a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. In an adjacent bed was Crossroads Care Center resident Doris Doust, also with a gunshot wound to the head. A handgun was recovered in the room.

The Dousts were transported to Sanford Worthington Regional Medical Center, then transferred to Sioux Falls, where they were pronounced dead.
