Worthington Woman And Passenger Taken To Hospital After Sibley Accident

Ambulance rear blue and whiteSibley, Iowa — A Worthington woman and her passenger were taken to the hospital after an accident near Sibley on Friday (5/31).

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5 PM on Friday, 53-year-old Jerry Wilson of Paton, Iowa was driving a 2001 Buick Park Avenue, northbound on Pierce Avenue and stopped at the intersection of 170th Street, near Jackrabbit Junction at Sibley. Thirty-two-year-old Mayra Vasques, of Worthington, Minnesota, was driving a 2005 Ford Five Hundred, westbound on 170th Street, approaching the Pierce Avenue intersection.

Wilson did not see Vasques’ vehicle approaching and the vehicles collided in the intersection.

Vasques and a child in her vehicle were transported to the Osceola Community Hospital.

Vasques’s vehicle sustained approximately $4,000 damage. Wilson’s vehicle sustained about $2,500 damage.

Wilson was charged with Failure to Obey Stop Sign.

Sibley Fire and Rescue and Sibley Ambulance assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
