2014 VNU Golf Tourney Raises More Than $50,000

Sheldon, Iowa — Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City was filled with 142 golfers for the 14th annual Village Northwest Unlimited Benefit Golf Tournament on Monday, July 21. This was a record number of golfers for this tournament. A light breeze, lush green golf course, great prizes, delicious meals, and plenty of refreshments all contributed to an enjoyable time for everyone. Over $50,000 was raised at this year’s tournament, making it a record event, with the funds being used to benefit the 180 people with disabilities served at the Village.
Low score in this year’s 4-person best ball format was carded by Greg Sawyer, Zach Sawyer, David Doely and Brian Hengeveld, a team sponsored by Sawyer Construction of Sheldon. Several golfers also went home with great prizes, including a 50” television, five $100 bills, and an iPad.
To date, this event has raised nearly $288,000 – funds that directly benefit the individuals receiving services at the Village. Village Northwest Unlimited is nationally recognized as one of the premier providers of services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries. Their goal is to build successful lives for 180 individuals by providing opportunities and choices in residential, vocational and social programs while fulfilling its mission of providing Purpose, Privacy and Dignity for all people.
