2nd Ranked Dutch Continue to Roll

The MOC Floyd Valley girls opened tournament play with a 60-34 home win in the quarterfinals of Class 3A Region 1.

With the win it’s on to the Region Semifinals Saturday night at 7:00 against Humboldt who defeated Webster City 66-58 in the other lower bracket quarterfinal. The semi final will be decided in Cherokee.

In the upper bracket its Clear Lake a 54-23 winner over Iowa Falls going against Spirit Lake who turned back Algona 58-31. The upper bracket semi will be played in Algona Saturday with a 7pm tip off as well.

MOC Floyd Valley was in control throughout as they opened a 21-10 first quarter lead and pushed it to 31-18 at halftime. At the end of three the lead was up to 19 points at 46-27 with the Dutch going on to win 60-34.

Alexis Conaway hit for a game high 31 points including 3 3-point buckets and 8-of-10 free throw shooting on the night. Also in double figures was Lauren McDonald with 15 points. Spencer was led by Ashley Mahrt with 11 points.

With the win MOC Floyd Valley improves to 23-0 on the season while Spencer wraps up the year at 10-12.
