Sheldon native and three time Olympian A.G. Kruger finished 17th overall in Saturday’s Hammer Throw qualifying at the World Games in Moscow Russia.
Kruger was 7th in group A qualifying with a toss of 73.35 meters. The top 12 combined in both group A and group B advanced to the finals Monday.
The last qualifier for the finals was a Bulgarian who finished 7th in group B with a distance of 75.18. The winner of the finals Monday was a Polish thrower who went 81.97 meters.
In June the former Orab won the hammer throw competition at the U.S. Track and Field Championships in Des Moines with a winning throw of 247 feet, 9 inches on his third attempt for his fifth U.S. outdoor title. Chris Cralle ended up second, with a toss of 244-7.
A.G. Kruger has performed in the 2004 Olympics in Athens Greece, the 2008 games in Beijing China and the 2012 summer games in London.
Kruger is currently the strength and conditioning coach at Ashland College in Ashland Ohio.
