Ag Bowl to be Broadcast Nationally
Date posted - June 7, 2013
The annual football battle for Lyon County will get even bigger this year. The annual match up between Central Lyon George Little Rock and West Lyon will be broadcast by the Iowa High School Sports Network and picked up by ESPN 3.
Central Lyon Activities Director Ben Gerleman was a contact person with Monsanto and the Iowa High School Sports Network and gave a lot of credit to network president Ken Krogman and West Lyon Activities Director Jeff Hoogeveen for bringing things together.
The broadcast will cover the five state area and will go national with ESPN 3.
As you might guess there’s plenty of excitement about the August game right now.
Now in its eighth year it’s a game that has a lot of tradition.
For the past seven years the game sponsored by the Lyon County Cattlemen has been known as the Beef Bowl. The 2013 edition under the sponsorship of Monsanto will be known as the Ag Bowl outside of Lyon County. In Lyon County it’s still the Beef Bowl. Gerleman explains.
Originally on the schedule for Friday August 30th the game at Dick Null Field in Rock Rapids will be moved to Thursday August 29th to accommodate the network broadcasts.
