Alyssa Buren Signs With Northwestern Softball

Orange City Iowa — Alyssa Buren of Sheldon has signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career at Northwestern College next fall. Buren is a four-year starter for Western Christian High School heading into her final season this summer.

Buren posted a 10-13 record with 92 strikeouts in 147 innings as a junior, earning all-conference honors for the second straight year. She has 193 career strikeouts for the Wolfpack. Last season, she hit .270 with 20 runs scored and 13 RBI’s and is a .318 career hitter for the Wolfpack.

An outstanding student, Buren is a member of the National Honor Society and plans to major in Biology/Pre-Med at Northwestern. She is the daughter of Dane and Kerri.

Northwestern head coach Chris Nachtigall commented, “We are thrilled to have Alyssa joining our program. She is a perfect fit for NWC and our softball program. She is a hard worker both on and off the field, and will add good depth to our pitching staff next year.”
