Area Cross Country Runners Ready to Compete Saturday at Fort Dodge

State Cross Country titles will be decided Saturday at Fort Dodge. Sheldon Orab Quinn Groff will be competing in the Class 2A boy’s field. He’ll be joined by Haily Duden and Josh Olvera of Sioux Center, Josh Schriever and Tyler Wessels of George Little Rock Central Lyon along with David TeKrony of Western Christian who all qualified for State Competition. Area teams that make it to State include Okoboji, Spirit Lake and Western Christian.

In Class 1A area runners at State include Alex Van Ginkel of Trinity Christian, West Lyon team mates Micah Bajema and Chase Bruggermann, and Tyler Reck from Sibley Ocheyedan. Area teams include Trinity Christian and West Lyon.

In Class 3A Spencer qualified as a team for State competition. Tigers who qualified individually include Ryan Bauermeister and Matt Behrens

The Iowa State Girls Cross Country titles will be decided today in Fort Dodge as well. In Class 1A Leah Sievert of Sibley Ocheyedan won her qualifying event for State.

In Class 2A qualifying teams included Unity Christian, Western Christian and Spirit Lake. Qualifying as individuals were Unity team mates Kassidy DeJong who won the qualifying event along with Jacki Hoogland and Samantha Bandstra. Western will be represented by Erika Douma and Miranda Hulstein. Competing for George Little Rock Central Lyon will be Kori Schulte.

In Class 3A MOC Floyd Valley won the team title at their qualifying event and will be represented by Bethany Dykstra, Caroline Ascherl and Kenzie Mulder who qualified as individuals.
