Area Officials Among Those to be Honored at IHSAA Officials Banquet

ihsaa_officeA total of 170 athletic officials are scheduled to receive awards at the Iowa High School Athletic Association’s 20th Annual Officials Banquet and Recognition Ceremony Saturday, April 26th at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines.

The list of honored officials includes seven officials who each have 50 years of service. Thirty-nine individuals will be honored for 35 years of service; 46 others for 25 years and 59 for completing 15 years of officiating. In addition awards will be given to four district aspiring new officials of the year and 13 others will receive plaques as the National Federation of Officials’ state award winner as official of the year in a particular sport.

Officials from the four county northwest Iowa area scheduled to be honored at the April 26 ceremonies include

15-Year Honorees

Les Van Roekel of Hull
Shannon Puttmann of Orange City

25-Year Honorees
Bob Boote of Hull
Dennis Hoffman of Sibley

35-Year Honorees
Curt Anderson of Paullina
Marty Richardson Sibley

NFOA State Officials-of-the-Year include Curt Anderson, Paullina for boys track. Named Aspiring New Official-of-the-Year for the Northwest District is Jodie Wielenga of Orange City.
