BHRV Clinches District Title

Sioux Center, Iowa — The #4 Nighthawks were able to overcome 3 1st quarter turnovers and come away with the 34-14 victory over the Sioux Center Warriors at Open Space Park in Sioux Center Friday night, and also clinched the Class 2A District 1 Title.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley drove down the field on their opening possession and JT Van’t Hul finished off the drive with a 3 yard touchdown run to make it 7-0 early in the contest. Later in the first, Sioux Center was able to capitalize on a Nighthawk turnover. Working with a short field, Brendan Zeutenhorst scored on an 8 yard reception to make it 7-7 with 4:55 left in the opening period.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley then took control in the 2nd quarter. Cade Moser took a screen pass 50 yards to the house to make it 14-7 Nighthawks. Cade Moser scored again midway in the 2nd. This time from 27 yards out as he was able to come down with the jump ball in the end-zone to make it 20-7 heading into halftime.

BHRV continued to pull away in the 2nd half. Beau De Jongh scored on a 14 yard bullet from Van’t Hul and Van’t Hul was able to score on an 11 yard QB keeper to make it 34-7 early in the 4th quarter. Sioux Center got on the board again late in the game, and the Nighthawks came away with the 34-14 victory.

The Nighthawks improve to 7-1 on the year, 6-0 in the district, and take the district title along with home-field advantage in the playoffs. Next Friday they will play host to Central Lyon/George-Little Rock.

Sioux Center falls to 7-1 on the year and 5-1 in the district. Their regular season will come to a close at Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon.
