Boyden Hull Moves on to Substate

Boyden-Hull School LogoSheldon Iowa — Boyden Hull will meet Remsen St Mary’s Monday night at LeMars in the Substate 1 game. On the line a trip to the 1A State Boys Basketball Tournament. The Comets earned a Substate berth with a 57-36 win over George Little Rock in the District 2 final at Sheldon Saturday night. Remsen St Mary’s advanced with a 43-41 win over LeMars Gehlen in the District 1 final at Cherokee Saturday night.

The Comets led 22-10 at the end of the first quarter and pushed that to a 32-16 advantage at the half. At the end of the third quarter G-LR had closed to 43-33 but the Comets went on to win it 57-36 with a strong fourth quarter.

Shane Solberg had 14 points to lead Boyden Hull with Zach Noble knocking down a trio of threes as part of a 13 point night. The Mustangs got a game high 16 from Lucas Nagel.

With the win the Comets are 17-7, winning 12 of their last 13 games. George Little Rock closes the year at 13-11 with an appearance in the District Final.  Up next for Boyden Hull is the Substate game Monday night in LeMars against Remsen St Mary’s who will come in unbeaten on the year at 23-0.
