Boyden Hull Sweeps Sheldon

Boyden-Hull School LogoSheldon Iowa — The Boyden  Hull  Comets swept the Sheldon Orabs in a Siouxland Conference basketball doubleheader Tuesday night. The Girls game went to the Comets 50-36 with the boys final 77-55.

In the girls game the comets were up 11-9 at the end of the first quarter and 25-16 at the half. At the end of three the lead was 34-23 with Boyden Hull going on to win 50-36. Baily Ten Haken  led all scorers with 17 points. Kaylle Anderson hit for 16. Sheldon was led by Kayla Van Meeteren with 10 points.

Boyden Hull finishes the regular season at 8-13 going 7-11 in the conference. Sheldon wraps the regular season at 4-17 and 3-15 in the Siouxland. Now it’s on to the tournaments with Sheldon opening the 3A Region 1 quarterfinals at Sioux Center Saturday night. The Comets will play a Class 2A Region 1 play in game Saturday at Rock Valley with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals at Lawton Bronson on Tuesday the 18th.

 

In the boys game the Comets were in front 22-19 at the end of the first quarter and pushed that to a 40-30 halftime lead. At the end of the third the lead was extended to 58-43 with the final 77-55. The Comets ranked number 2 in the latest 1A poll put four players in double figures led by Dalton Moser with a game high 22. Chandler Brunsting added 13 with Jacob Schafer hitting for 12 off the bench. They were joined by Kyle Bakker who had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Sheldon was led by Kyle Boerhave with 19 points followed by Jaden Kleinhesselink with 9 points. With the win Boyden Hull moves to 18-2 on the year and 16-2 in the Siouxland. Sheldon is 9-11 for the year and 9-8 in the conference. Both teams wrap up the regular season on Friday with the Orabs hosting Sibley Ocheyedan and the Comets hosting Rock Valley.
