Dordt_Defenders logoSioux Center, Iowa — Dordt’s Kayla Byl  is the NAIA National Women’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week and the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Weekfor meets run October 4-10.

Byl, a senior from Sioux Center was the top NAIA finisher at the Briar Cliff Invite (17:36). Her effort placed her fourth behind a pair of NCAA Division I runners and one NCAA Division II runner. Her time would have won the event three of the past four years. She has not finished behind an NAIA runner in three races since the Augustana Invite on September 4.

“Kayla’s performance the past two meets has been very deserving of this award. She has done a fantastic job of leading our women’s team both on and off the course and simultaneously has performed at a national caliber level. These types of performances come from great competition and Kayla has been blessed to have great runners to compete with. Specifically, this past week it was fun to see her work with and compete with Marissa DeWispelare,” said Dordt College coach Nate Wolf.

Dordt has this week off before running in the Mount Marty Invite at Yankton, South Dakota on October 24.
