The Lions opened the scoring midway through the first quarter as CJ Roths scored on a 4 yard run following a 52 yard punt return by Jesse Henrichs. Nic Lutmer added the extra point and the Lions were in front 7-0.
A 79 yard drive was capped with 11:52 to play in the half as Henrichs scored on a 10 yard run. Lutmer’s kick made it 14-0 at half time.
Interceptions by Colby Kleinhesselink and Jacob Andringa along with a fumble recovery in the end zone late in the half by Jesse Meendering turned away scoring threats by Central Lyon George Little Rock.
Early in the second a fumble recovery at the Sheldon 36 was turned into a touchdown as Roths scored his second touchdown of the night. Lutmer’s extra point made it 21-0 with 10:03 to play in the quarter.
Less than a minute later the Lions ran the score to 29-0 as Henrichs recovered a fumble and raced 34 yards for a score. A two point conversion pass from Lutmer to Zach Fugitt came with 9:45 to go in the quarter.
The Lions closed out the scoring stopping an Orab drive with a fumble recovery at their own 31. Henrichs would later score from 39 yards out. Lutmer’s extra point closed out the scoring with 4:49 to play in the third quarter.
With the win Central Lyon George Little Rock moves to 3-0 in the district and 4-1 on the season. Sheldon stands at 2-1 in the district and 3-2 for the season.
Next up for Sheldon is homecoming against Boyden Hull Rock Valley next Friday. Central Lyon travels to Estherville Lincoln Central for a non district game.
