Top ranked Central Lyon posted a 66-55 home win over George Little Rock Friday night in a Class 1A Region 1 Girls Basketball semi final. With the win it’s on to Sioux Center Monday the 18th and a meeting with West Sioux to find out who will be State Tournament bound. West Sioux earned a hard fought 47-46 win over West Bend Mallard in a game played at Hartley Friday night.
In Rock Rapids the Lions opened a 19-6 first quarter lead and pulled into halftime up 34-26 thanks in part to a 10 point second quarter from Kori Schulte. At the end of the third quarter the lead was up to 50-34 as Central Lyon picked up the win 66-55.
Lexi Ackerman hit for a game high 26 points including 9 in the third quarter and 11 more in the fourth. Schulte would finish with 14 points and Ivy Sieperda added 13.
The Mustangs had two players in double figures led by Keely Kruse with 12 including a trio of three point buckets. Teya Graham joined her in double figures with 10 points. Mia Graham scored 6 in the ballgame including buzzer beaters at the end of the first and second quarters.
With the win Central Lyon improves to 22-2 on the season while George Little Rock ends the year at 13-12.
