College BB: Defenders, Red Raiders Split Sioux County Doubleheader

In womens college basketball, Northwestern Colleges Kendra De Jong had 15 points on 7 of 10 shooting in the opening 20 minutes of play en route to an 87-62 defeat of Dordt College in front of a capacity crowd in Sioux Center last night.
With the victory, the 7th ranked Northwestern Red Raiders improve to 12-3 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference and 18-5 overall while the Defenders drop to 10-14 on the year and 5-11 in GPAC play.

A commanding post presence helped the fifth-ranked Dordt Defender men win the battle between the pair of top 15 teams as they knocked off the visiting 13 Northwestern Raiders by a final of 86-72 after playing to a 38-38 tie in the first half.
With the win the Defenders sweep the season series and pick up their 22nd win of the season, improving to 22-3 overall and a league leading 13-3 in GPAC play while the Raiders drop to 17-6 overall and 10-5 in conference.
