Comets Fall At Substate

Comet LogoLeMars, Iowa — Remsen St. Mary’s continued their undefeated streak and earned their first trip to the State Boys Basketball Tournament after defeating Boyden-Hull 56-51 Monday night in LeMars.

Both teams battled in the opening quarter and heading into the 2nd it was 13-12 Comets. The Hawks got the hot-hand from beyond the arc in the 2nd quarter. Heading into halftime it was 32-28 Remsen St. Mary’s. The battle continued in the 3rd quarter, and after 3 the score was 45-43 Hawks, and Remsen St. Mary’s held on in the final quarter for the 56-51 victory.

Hawks got a game high 18 points from Nicholas Ruden. 13 points came from Colin Schroeder and Jacob Wesselmann added 12 points.

The Comets got a team high 14 points from Marcus Rens and Mitchell Diekevers had 13 points.

Remsen St. Mary’s improves to 24-0 on the year and advances to the State Tournament in Des Moines.  Boyden-Hull ends their year at 17-8.
