Dordt And Northwestern Battle For GPAC Volleyball Title Saturday

Dordt will host Northwestern on Saturday, November 10 at 7:00 in the GPAC Finals.

Northwestern is 24-6 this season and finished in a tie for second in the GPAC with a 13-3 league record.  Northwestern has won three matches in a row since losing to Dordt on October 23.  The other GPAC losses for Northwestern are to Morningside in an October 2 match by a 3-2 count and Dordt also won the first meeting of these two on September 11.

Northwestern is averaging 14.3 kills per set with a .294 kill efficiency and also get 2.1 points per set on blocks. The Raiders have a season advantage of 178-120 in service aces.

Lauryn Hilger averages 4.6 kills per set with a .342 kill efficiency and she also 2.8 digs per outing and leads the team with 41 service aces. Makenzie Fink puts down 2.73 kills per set and Josie Blankespoor is averaging 2.19 kills . Emily Van Ginkel is averaging just under a block per set and she also averages 1.98 kills.

Lacey Wacker is putting up 11.77 assists per set and gets to 1.9 digs. Emily Strasser leads the team with 3.8 digs per set.

Dordt has a 26-2 record this fall and finished 16-0 at the conclusion of the GPAC season. Dordt’s last loss was a 3-2 decision at Grand View on September 7.   Dordt’s other loss is a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Rocky Mountain.

Ema Altena leads the team with a 3.98  kill average and she has a .281 kill efficiency while getting to 2.42 digs per set and she has 31 ace serves this year.  Leah Kamp is averaging 2.78 kills per set with a .314 kill efficiency while Ally Krommendyk’s average is 2.24 with a .298 efficiency. Krommendyk returned to play after a three and a half week absence due to injury and played in Dordt’s quarterfinal win over Concordia. Julia Lindbergh and Jessi De Jager are good for 2.00 and 1.74kills per set and De Jager is averaging just under a block per set along with Kamp.  Krommendyk leads the team with 1.24 blocks per set.

Jamie De Jager is putting up 10.85 assists per set with 29 aces and 2.35 digs per outing.  She also has a 1.0 kills per set average. Hannah Connelly has 22 ace serves and 1.91 digs and Aubrey Drake has 17 aces and leads the team in digs with 5.24 per game. Dordt has a 140-103 service ace advantage and scores 2.51 points per set on blocks and opponents get 1.78.  Teams are averaging 9.55 kills against Dordt with a .108 efficiency.

Both of these teams will advance to the NAIA National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa beginning play on Tuesday, November 27.
