Dordt Defeats Waldorf 59-14

Dordt College scored on five of their first seven possessions to take a 39-0 halftime lead on the way to a 59-14 win over Waldorf in non-conference play in Sioux Center on Saturday night.

The Defenders started the game with a ten play-84 yard drive that culminated with a Keithen Drury one yard touchdown run. The Defenders were able to force a punt by Waldorf after three plays and Levi Jungling appeared to give Dordt a two-score lead on a punt return but it was called back by a clip at the 17 yard line.

Drury again got the call, this time from 27 yards out and Dordt led 16-0 after the two-point conversion.

A Brock Lamle to Ben Heuvelhorst nine yard pass completion was Dordt’s third score and the 24-0 score held into the second quarter.

Drury scored his third touchdown with 7:32 left in the half on a 44 yard rumble and Lamle found Jake Dodge for a 24 yard completion to finish the first half scoring with Dordt leading 39-0.

Dordt’s first score of the second half was a flip to Jungling in the back field and the slot receiver passed to Josh de Jong on the option for 36 yards and a 46-0 lead.

Waldorf did score twice before Mark Ybarra-Brandt engineered drives of 57 and 54 yards and passed to Evin Dickerson for one score from 22 yards out and ran for a 14 yard touchdown with 1:04 left in the game.

Dordt will travel to Sioux City to face Morningside on Saturday, September 16 in a 1:00 kickoff.
