Dordt Football Looks To Carry Last Year’s Momentum Into 2019

Sioux Center, Iowa — After finishing to 2018 football season with their best record in school history, Dordt University looks to continue their winning ways heading into the 2019 season.

Last years theme heading into the season was taking that next step, and this year Defender Head Coach Joel Penner says the theme is taking that momentum and dialing it to eleven.

With the graduation of Brock Lamle, there was a quarterback competition to see who would fill that hole on the offense.

Graduating on the defensive side of the ball was safety Casey Byker. Penner talks about what players will step up as leaders in the secondary.

He breaks down who will lead the Defender’s potent rushing attack this season.

Penner tells us how junior wide receiver Levi Jungling has progressed heading into the season.

Coach Penner tells us there is a number freshman who will make an instant impact for the Defenders.

The Defenders kick off their season against Keiser University. Penner gives us his thoughts on their week 1 opponent.

Kick off is on on Thursday, August 29th at 7:00 pm in Sioux Center.
